Changes

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my family and friends. I trust that this Christmas you will experience the wonder of God with us...Jesus come to earth.

This year has been characterised by change.  I am grateful for God's leading in all things.  As you would know from last year's letter I began the year at a private school. In my short stint outside EQ I met some wonderful people and learnt that my passion is in State education.  I was thankful to get a position as Deputy Principal at Wondall Heights State School where I was able to reconnect with an old friend from Mt Isa days, Jenni and met more inspiring teachers and families.  It was great to be a part of a leadership team and I have learnt much that will aid me as I lead my own school again next year.

Family & fun

I've enjoyed special time with my family.  Highlights have included:
- A week at the coast with the kids last summer.  It was our bike holiday and we enjoyed riding around Evan's Head on our bikes.

- Running/walking with Hannah at Gold Coast 5.7km in honour of her mother.

- Snow chasing in June holidays.  I read there was going to be snow in NSW so Anne and I bundled the kids into the van and drove South of Glen Innes for the kids to get their first sight of snow.  We even managed a snowman complete with carrot nose!

- Mum's and Dad's retirement dinners.

- Taking Matt to PNG - his first overseas trip.  He got a taste of much of PNG life and soaked up all the experiences.  It was also great to catch up with my PNG friends.

- Hannah turned 18 and had a Bollywood party.

- Hannah graduated Year 12 and it was lovely to celebrate with her at her formal.

Holidays

This letter is later than normal because I have just returned from 2 weeks in Tasmania where I hiked the overland track with Steve, Matt, my friend Anna and Matt's friend's family. We got to experience the beauties of Tassie weather with sunshine, sleet, snow and rain. A spectatular 6 day, 5 night hike.  Steve was the master planner and we wanted for nothing and used everything we carried.

On the move again!

I am moving again.  I was successful in winning a Principal position at Happy Valley State School  in Mt Isa.  So on 8th of January, I will be moving to Mt Isa. I have two spare rooms so guests are welcome!  I have bought a 4WD so I can enjoy all the outback has to offer.  I'm looking forward to the new challenges ahead and feel incredibly blessed to be the principal of such a great school with lovely students.  Please visit as I know I will be homesick after enjoying being close to family and friends for the last few years.
